Leche Lady: Breastfeeding Support
Provide new parents with the skills necessary to successfully breastfeed their Infant.
give new families the tools needed so that they may integrate breastfeeding into their daily lives
My experience and love for Maternal and Child Health Nursing led me to assist new families in increasing their confidence and ability to breastfeed their infants. Personal struggles with breastfeeding my first infant, left me without the knowledge and support that I needed. This led me to begin researching and reaching out to help other breastfeeding families as a volunteer. I then became an ASPO Lamaze Certified Breastfeeding Specialist in 1996, and achieved my certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant in 2007. I am currently working as a Lactation Consultant in a hospital setting as well as private practice. If you would like to learn more about me, and the support I offer, please read on and feel free to contact me.

PROVIDE SUPPORT TO THE NEW MOTHER, EMPOWERING HER, INCREASING HER CONFIDENCE AND enCOURAGING HER “MOTHER’S INTUITION”
A newborn baby has only three demands. They are warmth in the arms of its mother, food from her breasts, and security in the knowledge of her presence. Breastfeeding satisfies all three.
What is an IBCLC
An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant is a health care professional who specializes in the clinical management of breastfeeding. IBCLCs are certified by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners Inc. under the direction of the US National Commission for Certifying Agencies.
My goal is to support and strengthen your decision to breastfeed.Through the use of evidence based practice, hands on guidance, reassurance, and referral to appropriate resources, I hope to help you achieve a fulfilling breastfeeding experience.
We had the good fortune of meeting Jeanie about a month before our son was born, as she was instructing our childbirth preparation class. We immediately noticed what an energetic, exuberant, friendly and passionate person she was! She loves parents and even more, she loves babies! She was so enthusiastic about our choice for a natural birth, and when we discovered at 36-weeks that our boy was breech, she recommended some wonderful meditative exercises that we are confident are what helped our baby turn vertex! We knew that Jeanie was also a lactation consultant, so we kept in touch until our son was born in December 2013. We unfortunately had to have a surprise Caesarean section, which was devastating to both my husband and my fragile, hormonal, new-mommy self. With that caesarean also came unanticipated breastfeeding difficulties. Jeanie not only spent countless hours on the phone with me, letting my emotions run their course and assuring me that all was well and I was doing a great job, but she came to our home several times to observe our sweet nursling and help trouble-shoot our issues. Not only did she notice his low muscle tone and tongue tie, but she helped to free us of the necessity of using nipple shields and got us nursing beautifully. Now, 14 months later (and still going strong!), both my husband and myself can confidently say we owe the success of our nursing journey to our amazing lactation consultant, Jeanie. We cannot express our gratitude deeply enough.
